Dodge Vipers at Allpar

The last 2010 Viper has been built, but a 2012 Dodge Viper redesign is likely. Ralph Gilles said the new car would use expertise, materials, and technology (but not parts) from Ferrari to lighten the weight, with a V-10 derived from the current 8.4L engine. Gilles said the Viper will always be V10 powered and that there might be a V8 powered sibling. We believe that the future Viper will be similar to the current one in basic look, feel, and character; changes will focus on increasing performance and conforming to new safety standards.

Gary Johnson, Road Racing Manager for the Motorsports Group, said that Dodge did well in international racing for 2007, achieving two championships on two continents. Winning the new FIA GT3 Championship in Brazil, a Viper Competition Coupe beat cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche. In England, the Viper took the British GT Championship, with Team RPM drivers finishing 81 points and six points ahead of their closest competitor. Compared with similar cars from Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche, Ascari, Lamborghini, Mosler, and Lotus, the Viper Competition Coupe is quite affordable. 2007 sales totaled 25 units, with record part sales; over the past five years (2002-2007), 120 Competition Coupes have been produced.
