Five Missing Mopars of 2015: Rear Drive Dodge Avenger

While Dodge and Jeep have launched some new cars since 2009, some cars are still missing, starting with a mid-sized, rear wheel drive performance-and-family sedan. The recently-used Avenger name could easily be applied to mid-sized sedans using rear wheel drive, with a new platform/architecture created by FCA US and FCA Italy.

Dodge Avenger

The first car will come out as the Alfa Romeo Giulia, followed in one to three years by a Dodge. The latter will be less costly, likely have larger-displacement engines, and weigh more. The brand is sorely in need of cars that fit its performance image other than the Charger Hemi, Challenger Hemi, and Viper. It may not be called Avenger; some think it will get the Dart name, and others are still begging on ’Cuda.
