NEED HELP for my '93 2.5 N/A Tona! misfire ewww!! Rate Topic: -----

My Daytona has been misfiring lately & now it's getting worst. I should prob start thinking about taking care of the issue at hand =[

Started out of nowhere, checked my plugs about a month back & I think they were white-ish from what I can remember. A friend told me that meant I might have a blown head gasket. Not to thrilled about paying the money for that though. Is there anything else I should be checking? Anything to make the source of the problem more clear? I know you guys can help seeing how all of you have run into just about any problem that could ever go wrong with these beasts!

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks all!

Thank you, I was actually a member a while back but tried logging on under my old screen name & it wouldn't let me so I was forced to create a new account.

I got codes 12, 21 & 55.
-21 is a bad oxygen sensor or wiring. Maybe the problem?

Pull the plugs again. If they're black now then it's either a bad O2 or a bad injector. Chances if you're getting the O2 code that it's either the O2 or the wire from it to the computer.

It's a '93 so it's probably a four wire O2 sensor. Get the NGK or the Dealer part.

You can check for bad HG by checking for coolant in the oil and oil in the coolant. Coolant in the oil will make the oil look milky brownish. Same for oil in the coolant. Also check your oil level. If it's risen a good deal then it's probably got some coolant at the bottom of the pan.

Changing the HG one a TBI car is much easier than a Turbo car if you're going to do it yourself.

Well I JUST did an oil change & the oil that came out was fine. & currently, my oil level is perfect. Just checked my coolant, also perfect.
Checked my plugs again, all seem to have normal wear & tear EXCEPT, don't know what this means, but my third cylinder had oil on the plug.

Oil on the tip or around the threads (area)?

If it's oil and it's on the tip this can't be good as in possible blown head gasket but still I don't think do, not yet.

Pull all the plugs and turn the engine over till #3 is at the top. Then with a pen light flash light look inside the cylinder. If it's wet with oil this could be a problem.

Try putting the #3 plug in another hole and and install the other plugs with a different one in #3. Then run it some more and pull them again. If #3 still shows the same sympotm this could be trouble.

Check you plug wires too. Sounds like #3 may not be firing.

If it was around the threads and not on the tip then it's probably not coming from the cylinder but the valve cover gasket instead.

Check to be sure that the cam it timed properly and the ignition timing is right. Also be sure that the wires are going to the right plug. It 'may' be that they got mixed up some how when you pulled the plugs last time.

Based on what you have told us so far I don't suspect a head gasket at this point.

Checked my wires, all are going to the correct plug.
Is there any easy way to check if my timing is right?

Yep, sure is, this is for the 2.2, not too sure about you engine.. What size engine do ya have?
