2.2 Compatible In 1990 Caravan? Rate Topic: -----

If you were a registered user, you would not be seeing this!

Would a 2.2 liter engine from a 1994 Dodge Shadow be a compatible swap into a 1990 Dodge Caravan that originally had a 2.5? Both the Shadow and Caravan are equipped with the 3-speed Auto.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The computer/SBEC also has to be swaped over so it will run correctly. Mounts are 100% the same, the only thing I'm not sure about is if any belt driven accesorys and/or mounting brackets for them are different due to clearence requirements.

There were also sensor and fuel injection changes between 1990 and 1994. You would have to use the throttle body and sensors from your old engine to make it work. I think the manifold is different as well as 94 had no egr valve. And the fuel pressure was different. I know this as I had a 1990 shadow that someone had put a later engine into. I think the 2.2 and 2.5 used the same sensors and computer. Someone else might have more info.
