Doors Are Rusting Away Before My Eyes... Need new door frame molding & window "scrubbers" Rate Topic: -----

If you were a registered user, you would not be seeing this!

I need replacement molding strips for around the top of the door frame, running down along (and underneath) the windshield molding. The kid at A*Zone tried to tell me a roll of cheap windowstripping was what I needed. I made him go out and look at it. I bought nothing. If any of you have replaced the molding: Where did you get it? I'd prefer to buy it new, as 17yr old boneyard rubber is just as dried out as 17yr old original rubber. I'm being lazy, I don't want to run all over or make 100 phone calls...

Also looking for window "scrubbers": the long strip that brushes your window as you raise and lower it. Mine don't remotely channel any water away, consequently the bottoms of both my doors ('92 IROC, 2.5T) are very rusty. This month's plan is outer tie rods, motor mounts, front end alignment, one brake rotor, and reattach the actuator arm to my turbo (long story...). The water situation has taken over the fun stuff, so I want to deal with it. Water is also leaking through the roof at the top of the windshield on the passenger's side. I do need to paint the car, but any ideas on a decent sealant that would at least channel the water away till I can get at it. The snow is changing to rain, so I want to jump on this...
Thanks as always!

JC Whitney sells generic window scrapers that only need to be cut to length. Price is just $20 for each side. This is for style 42:

Here is a link to weatherstripping style 39, which is the same style as above but is slightly bigger.

Some Daytona owners on turbo-mopar.com installed these on their cars. There is an entire thread regarding their efforts, including photos. The results were extremely good:

The only difference from the originals is that the replacements have a chrome strip top, which the originals do not have. However, from the pics shown, the chrome seems to set off of the doors on the Daytonas nicely.

The channel weather stripping is no longer available from the dealer. If you want new your best bet would be to see if Marty at Arizona Parts has them. Otherwise you'll have to do like the rest of us and 'improvise' with some after market stuff. The scrapers are also no longer available. But you probable knew that about the channel and the scrapers. Check with Marty for these too.

However the scrapers from the '01 Camaro is a VERY close replacement. You should be able to get some from the bone yard and cut them to fit. Also like was posted above, style 39 or 42 from JCWhitney is close and come in 4 foot lenghts. You can cut these to fit.

One other piece which sometimes goes and needs to be replaced is the scraper on the inside attached to the door panel. These are available not from the dealer but from 1aauto as a kit with the '01 Camaro part or you can get these seperately as an eight foot section. Because less than 4 feet is what we need the supplier will cut them in half before shipping to get them in a 4' tube.

I'll have to research the supplier.

But like I said, if you want OEM and new check with Marty. He is our only supplier for some of these parts if you want OEM.
