Over the weekend I did a lot of driving and ran across a few Mopar sightings down around Galveston, Texas and cruising the beach on the Bolivar Peninsula. Of course, the place is always full of gorgeous (usually lifted) Ram trucks, but there were several Durangos (the new body) this weekend, and one of those -a white one- had at least an 8-inch lift on it! It was incredible. First time I've seen a new Durango lifted. And with a chrome brush guard on the front (which I dont think came from Mopar) the vehicle just looked very impressive all-around.

There are starting to be a lot of Pacifica's on the road, finally. In Houston the vehicle of choice in that class seems to be the Lexus RX but Chrysler must be making a dent at last. Still havent seen any 300's or any other new models here, although there is a silver Ram SRT-10 rumbling about here in Sugar Land.

Classic or vintage vehicle of interest...... I saw a nice (apparently) fully restored Challenger on the road last week, in metallic purple. I dont think those are too common. B)

just got it to work...used windows media instead of real player...

anyway, that was a pre-production car. notice the wheels and the lip/trim piece on the top of the trunk...those didn't make it into production...plus the exhaust decibels at idle were waaaaay to raucous for a luxury car!

however, this car will indeed look good out on the road...especially the
C version!

I'm guessing one of the two SRT's will be the Durango (it fits with the whole year after launch thing). My second guess was the Pacifica, but I can't see the benefit of a extreme high performance version. I'm thinking it might be a little early for the magnum and 300, but what about something that's been out for a while, like the Liberty?

Really don't think that they will SRT a Jeep. What's the point? SRT is about low cars, big wheels, stiff suspension, and agressive looks. I think that just the last one fits with Jeep's philosophy.

SRT on a Chrysler seemed weird(but could be fine), on a Jeep just doesn't fit.

So I believe this ones are the 300C(for the praises it has recieved) and the Durango(as said above, it's a year away from the "base" model).

New AutoWeek review of the Dodge Magnum (posted 3/22/04):

http://www.autoweek....t_code=02904799

"We?ve driven the Magnum now in sunny weather, through a rare desert rain and over packed snow and ice in far northern Michigan, and if its mission is to give an alternative to the SUV that still provides the robust structure, interior volume and utility of such vehicles, it is spot-on. And we haven?t even met the all-wheel-drive model coming this fall."

Yeah! :)

Saw a magazine ad for the SRT 4
had a nice little catch phrase
"Under 21 and Barely Legal"
Thought it was pretty good - its got the price and the attitude all right there :)

Finally a review of a 300 with the journalists own pics rather than DCX material, includes interior and exterior shots of a 300C and a nice front 3/4 of a midline 300.

See the differences in the base/mid 300 exterior: headlights, grille (not as much chrome), no chrome strip beneath headlights or on rear bumper, mirror housings are body colour rather than chrome, lower front fascia where the foglight area is a smaller black knockout (to account for models with/without fogs) rather than being molded into the fascia like the 300C and fogs (on models where equipped) are smaller than those on the 300C, and the rear taillights (can't see in the pic) which are plainer on the base/mid models.

Good golly! I just saw the new Chrysler brand commercial! (I know, I'm late). It was great. I like how they stepped away from the silver car thing (especially the gold version). The colors are great. It kinda reached out to the luxury side and the side where people wear earth-toned colors and listen to jazz and stuff like that (like Infinity commercials?). Does this come from a new marketing head, different from the guy who hired Aerosmith, Celine, and Martha Stewart (yes Martha was paid before things went bad and I did like the Aero-commercials)? Either way, I'd like to shake his hand.

I walked by a TV today that was playing CNN. The volume was off, but the topic was Best Muscle Cars and there was a picture of a red 1970 Hemi Cuda. Anyone catch the segment? I'm kinda curious to know what they were saying.

In her new video, she is driving around town in a nice silver 300, but I can't tell if its a 300C or what. The video is "Its a wrap"

Check it out sometime.

A brake shop in Sugar Land, Texas had the #77 (I believe) Dodge Intrepid(?) from NASCAR on display yesterday, with several vintage Mopar's alongside it. I drove by, turned around, went home to get my camera, and when I got back, they had loaded the stock car back onto a truck. :(

But I did get a good look at the Dodge stock car and I wanted to ask once again, has anyone confirmed that this car does or does not resemble the upcoming Charger? Or is it just a "generic" design with no connections to anything in production?

I really think that the fascia resembles the '04 Stratus, though don't know if sedan/coupé. Just compare the picture of this production cars to the stock car, and you'll see.

In the other hand, (IMHO) if DCX uses a cross-hair grille for the Charger, at least the base model won't be a big departure from this design.

I'm sure the Charger will have a crosshair grille even if its not as prominent as some of the ones on other models, in keeping with the "retro" Charger look. I just cant imagine it not having a crosshair at all. Many who are too young to remember the original Charger, would not be able to tell it was a Dodge without one.

But yeah I guess youre right, the front of the stock car did somewhat resemble a Stratus.

The grill from the Dodge Razor concept comes to mind here:

(And now that I mention it, the roofline looks kinda, uh, suspect too)

Here's a shot of Sterling Marlin's car that shows the grill pretty well:

Looks pretty Stratus-ish, I think, though it's mostly just generic Dodge.
