I had a similar problem on my 91 dak. The trailer had a short and blew the fuse which made the ABS/Brake lite go on. Other then that I can't help.

When the warning lights are on, a fault code is stored in the ABS module. See if you can get a scan tool plugged into the underdash connector to read the codes and get back to us. A regular engine code reader may not be able to read the other system modules, an advanced, high-feature one should.

If not then you should try to get some installed.
If you can't get trailer brakes installed then you may just need to start braking a little sooner.
I have a 16ft enclosed trailer that I haul sound gear in. I use my 94 Ram 1500. (ABS rear only) The trailer has brakes but for a while they didn't' work. I learned real quick that slowing down sooner and driving slower to begin with was the best thing. I overheated pads and rotors real quick trying to drive like I did with trailer brakes. I even slid right through an intersection once when the road was wet.
