A new "front end" or nose?

"Sources close to Allpar report that the upcoming Charger SRT-8 (or maybe the Daytona) a front end made by ASC and be launched in late spring.

This may mean that it will have more than just a chin spoiler like that one the 300C SRT-8. Also reported is that one will be able to still get a chrome grill on the 300C SRT-8 as an option (standard on the SRT-8 is a body colored grill)."

You left off the best part that has the actually goodies in it. I don't care for the graphics and the spoiler but I love the blacked out grille. Looks like it will have the optional performance handling group that can be had on the regular RTs. I wouldn't make fun of an extra 10 hp you can't tell how the curve is maybe alot more useable power in there, take them any way you can get 'em.

Here is the rest of the good stuff:

Legendary Colors for Legendary Car

Daytona race fans yelling “Go man, go!” will not only be cheering on the new Dodge Charger in its return to NASCAR Nextel Cup racing, but also will be describing the paint scheme on the first-available, limited-production 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model. Go ManGo!, a high-impact paint name initially used for the 1970 Dodge Charger, returns in an updated metallic orange paint on the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T.

Following the limited-production run of Dodge Charger Daytona R/T in Go ManGo! will be a Dodge Charger Daytona R/T offered in Top Banana, another high-impact heritage paint name. The Top Banana Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will peel off the line in limited numbers later in 2005.

In addition to the special exterior paint colors, the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model will be distinguishable by an exclusive front fascia with a chin spoiler and black honeycomb grille, unique black "Daytona” and “HEMI” decals, signature heritage R/T badging and a black rear decklid spoiler. The Daytona model also will include large, bright, dual-exhaust tips and 18-inch polished wheels with low-gloss, jet-black painted pockets. The powerful HEMI engine will feature a HEMI-orange engine cover.

The interior of the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will feature performance front seats with suede inserts and embroidered "Daytona" logos on the front headrests. Body-color accent stitching will appear on the front and rear seats and on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. Matching body-colored center stack bezel, a "Daytona Limited Edition" display on the electronic cluster and a sequentially numbered limited-edition Daytona badge on the instrument panel will complete the unique Dodge Charger Daytona R/T interior.

The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T comes equipped with standard world-class ride and handling features, including Electronic Stability Program (ESP), All-speed Traction Control and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model also will feature dual-zone automatic temperature controls, heated power front seats and power-adjustable pedals.

The 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T in Go ManGo! paint will be on display at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show during press days, beginning Feb. 9. Dodge Charger Daytona R/T models in Go ManGo! and Top Banana paint will be featured in the Daytona Speedway Dodge City display, Feb. 16–20.

Dodge to Boost 5.7-liter HEMI to 350 Horsepower

Just in time for the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T launch, Chrysler Group engineers have muscled out even more horsepower from the legendary HEMI engine. The 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will feature a five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick® and a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine that offers an estimated 350 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque -- ten more horses than the previous 5.7-liter HEMI -- for even more power in this modern rear-wheel-drive muscle car.

Chrysler Group engineers developed uniquely tuned intake and exhaust systems to unleash some of the HEMI engine's untapped power for the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. By using a less restrictive intake system and moving to a straight-through muffler from a three-pass muffler, the newly tuned 5.7-liter HEMI gets a 10-horsepower boost and a throaty, high-performance tone to match.

The HEMI engine's Multi-displacement System (MDS) provides up to 20 percent improved fuel economy, giving Dodge Charger customers the legendary HEMI power they want with fuel economy they will appreciate.

A high-performance suspension package that includes special suspension tuning, 18-inch all-season P235/55 R18 performance tires, performance-tuned 9-land steering gear and Nivomat™ self-leveling rear shock absorbers will be standard on the Charger Daytona R/T model.

2006 Dodge Charger Production

Production of the 2006 Dodge Charger SE, SXT and R/T models begins this spring at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, with vehicles available in North American markets early this summer. The Dodge Charger will join the Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300 vehicles built there.

Limited production of the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model in modern Go ManGo! paint will begin early this summer with vehicles available in North American markets soon after. The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model in Top Banana paint will be available after the limited production of Go ManGo! is complete.

Some thoughts:

1) Guys, don't complain about the small power bump. They're just getting started with the Charger. Heck, they've got a special limited edition package and the regular car won't even be out for a few months yet. This is a bone being thrown to enthusiasts and a nod to history to get people excited. The heavy hitters are yet to come.

2) It looks good. I'd like to see different wheels, and I kinda wish they'd blacked out the whole hood and put a six-pack scoop or something on it, but it looks good. I hope the SRT gets some of the retro flavor too.

3) ... a manual trans?

4) Dave, it's your forum and you can do what you want, but from where I sit handing out a warning when someone calls you for peeing on the parade seems a little much.

Well, I'm starting to like it more. I think my biggest problem now is the limited color choice. I don't care if they're "classic" colors or "heritage" colors or what. I don't particularly care for orange cars and I completely dislike yellow.

I think they should drop the "A" and call it the Dayton because it's about as exciting as Dayton.

The SRT-8 has 20" wheels, and other "neat" stuff. ;) You guys are just crazy if you can't like something that does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and is under $38K. I don't know what it takes to please you...

Oh, yeah, a coupe!

These colors look like butterscotch and burnt orange. Will have to waite and see actual cars as color in prints may be off. The original Go Mango/Vitamin C was a bright orange and top banana was also a bright yelolow. These appear to be too dark to be matches.

I don't think a six pack scoop would fit this car profile. hood is too short, wouldn't look balanced. Might work with the "Air Grabber" scoop and power hood bulge similar to 70 Road Runner and 71 Charger's.
I agree with you about the warnings. I must have said something to make some one mad as I have a warning bar in my tag line??? Don't think I have ever said anything about any person other than voicing my opinion about likes and dislikes about this new Dodge.

Sorry Chris, it has nothing to do with the number of doors. At least not for me. I've got to like the car I buy. I won't buy a 500 because it's bland. It may be the best car in the world, but I won't buy it. The Daytona isn't bland, but I don't like the color.

Basically, given the limited color options, neither of which I'm fond of, at least based on these pictures, I'll stick with a regular R/T which will offer virtually the same performance and get a car that I don't feel like I need to repaint.

Guess I'll wait to see what it looks like in person, but overall the Charger hasn't really thrilled me to begin with.

Any idea on the number in each production run? I have not seen this posted anywhere.

Its funny, I have a '98 Grand Prix Daytona 500 Pace Car... it will be nice to replace it with another "Daytona", but one of Mopar vintage.

By the way, the Grand Prix has been a great car... even though it is a GM.

That's true, just remember that as Mopars, they can even give us gold and we'll complain about it.

As for me, I DO like it... really much. So lets hope they go on in this line with the SRT-8. THAT will be the one that will get remembered.

I had tried to say that in the best way possible, but everytime I tried to do so, it turned out somewhat offensive. So to avoid a "warning", I decided to log out. As apparently someone else found the words, so thanks georgejetson... and I second that.

honestly not impressed with the one at naias, but this seems so much better...almost makes me forget about the 4 door thing. have to give kudos to dodge for the retro R/T badging and hood black out. any word on pricing? if they are bumping hp in the 5.7l in cars, are they planning to bump it up in the trucks?

Well, at least we know it's a muscle car, because it has power....power heated seats, power pedals....and it has dual temp controls....and a spoiler!!

Putting those graphics on a 4-door sedan is like putting a whale tail on a Honda...it just makes it look like something from Hotwheels.

Well, atleast they made an attempt at doing something different which does look good and I wouldn't mind having one. The Dodge Motorsports version of the Intrepid looked terrible IMHO. I like this better then I liked those and I never was diggin the Red Paint with Black alloys and Red Pinstriped tires because it just didn't do anything for me.

The colors are definatly not matches. GoMango was a richer orange and Top Banana was alot brighter as jwhitehead said. Once again, here we have a case of DCX throwing something totally new out there and pinning a heritage name on it to try and win us over to their warped sense of what modern mopar should be. They are basically trying to re-write mopar history, while ignoring as much of real mopar history as they can!

The colors don't match the names, but we are supposed to accept them and love them anyway. Why? Because DCX tells us they are GoMango and TopBanana, thats why. They think Mopar enthusiasts will love anything with a heritage name because we are all supposed to be a bunch of dumb yokels driving around in old Dusters saying "sweeeet" like in the commercials. I swear, the more I see the "that thing got a Hemi" commercials with Ron Jeep, the more I realize what the top brass at DCX thinks of enthusiasts like us. The next time you see the "Best Friends" commercial, think of the Hemi truck guy as Dieter, and the two yokels in the Duster representing Allparians. This is DCX propaganda talking directly to us, their way of making us conform to their vision for the company!

Think about it.

If there is anyone who expects the colors to be exactly the same as back then is high or drunk. The new colors are close and gets the idea across. I think the newer orange and yellow fits the Charger. I couldn't imagine 1960 whatever yellow or orange on a new car. It just wouldn't fit. They would look "faded" from the factory compared to the paint on other cars.
