I had less enthusiasm for my first car, an '88 Civic. But it got me around. I'm interested why you believe there will be a downgrade in performance when we haven't seen the finished product.

Well, my car is a pony car which is around 3500 lbs. and it is putting over 400 to the wheels. That is how I know the Challenger will not be competition, the new Shelby GT 500 would be playing catch up to me. (It is coming it at a whopping 3900 lbs/4000 lb convertible!!)

I'm pretty sure it may not get near 3700 when it meets production. I hope it's pony car size... isn't that what it's competing for? Pony Market?

Heh... They *could* call this car the Dodge Pansie and I think it would maybe cost them the sale of 3 cars! :-)

It's gorgeous! So is the Imperial.

If the 300c, Magnum and Charger made people go so bananas, these two LY cars should make people mess their pants!!! Hey, Auburn Hills... you keep trying to entice me to use my employee discount, so BUILD THESE and I'll buy one of each!!!

Drool, drool!!

Based on limited research on the 99 Firebird, I would say that the new Challenger has a reasonable chance to meet or exceed the performance of a 99 Firebird (in its stock form), even it it weighs 500 lbs more.

Yes, a stock '99 Firebird will be lunch meat for one of these. (the Charger SRT-8 will walk them) But not mine :)

How can everyone be be disappointed in the Charger? Honestly?

Name a GM car that has anywhere as much excitement to it and fun nature? - Minus the Corvette

And DARE i ask name a Phord.... - MINUS the RUSTANG! - We are not getting into the Apples vs Oranges Argument again

Then DARE I ask - Name a Honda or Toyota as exciting or FUN to drive?! HA!

I was HUGELY dissapointed in the Charger, looks wise. I've driven one, and really liked it, but they screwed up making it look like they did! I don't care about 4 doors, but it doesn't have to be an ugly 4 doors. Not that the Charger is horrible, it isn't, but it's not really very good looking either. I really hate the rear quarters.
If it had looked half as good as the Challenger does, I would either be driving one now, or soon be!

Challenger doesn't nesserally means that there's is something better in people's mind. It much likely means a one on one confrontation, to dare someone, to prove something, heck, even to grab life by the horns. I can hardly imagine a guy driving to a Dodge dealer and suddently stops and thinks " what the heck am I doing here ? test drive a car that's name means another car is better ? ". Relax, it will sell like hot cakes.
