but if you look at most new cars us guys that love to drive manual
are getting discriminated against
so few new cars come with a stick it makes me sick
i was lucky i grew up on the farm so i learned how to drive stick real early
it wasn't an option

Actually - look at it this way - for the longest time, Americans have bought automatic equipped cars. Yet on almost every sticker I've seen, there's an additional charge for that automatic over the manual model. Seems to me that if the factory is cranking out automatics based upon demand, and more are built and sold - that perhaps the additional charge ought to be placed on the manual transaxle.

Talk about your discrimination.

That has been going on for a little while now, a good example is the Corvette mostly automatics.

Still? After some 50 odd years or more or making them? I'm sure that's possible...

But if you sell cars in America - and 90% of them are automatics - seems to me that you can't really consider the automatic "optional" anymore - it should be considered standard. But that's me, and I don't run the automakers.

I think I understand the statement.

The "stick folks" are getting "screwed" because a stick is not offered in the Charger.

Is it Chrysler knowingly screwing stick shift fans? Or is it Chrysler seeing that when 90% of your buyers choose automatic, you go with the majority in the effort to reduce costs overall?

Besides - someone else noted this - if the Hemi/6-speed stick powertrain gets 'certified' for Challenger - it just might be made available in other similar vehicles.

Patience. ;)

i know that sentence sucked
i read it but didn't know what to change and was in a hurry
i can't wait to see the first car with a 6.1 6 speed
and yeah i think chrysler is going with autos because of demand
but obviously they realize that there are people who like to drive stick

Not to turn this thread upside down, but the letters to the editor in the April edition of Road & Track includes a letter that points out that while the February issue said the Challenger would be automatic, the photos showed the car with three pedals.

The editor replied that while the prototype was set up with a manual transmission, a 6 speed automatic is planned for production. (They also say the Challenger proved to be one of their most popular topics in a long time.)

Bottom line, perhqaps the initial Challenger production will not offer a manual transmission after all.

dodge dealers are taking deposits already.
I`m still trying to find out what info these people are getting. I`m hoping a 6 speed manual is available
along with a sunroof.

Unfortunately, dealers (salespeople) will take deposits to buy their mothers. Just because a dealer is taking a deposit, doesn't mean that a dealer knows when or even if a concept car will be produced. Think of it this way..... people are saying that this car MAY be released in either the 2007 or 2008 model year. So at longest, you have another year and a half (say Sep. 2007) before Dodge even makes an official announcement of the Challenger models and options. This means that the dealer will be able to keep your money for a year and a half and do with it whatever the dealer pleases. And you get to sit at home and twiddle your thumbs for a year thinking that you're going to get a car. When that year is up, you may get your money back, or the dealer may call you and offer you a "super deal" on the latest dodge Charger/Calliber/Caravan special edition release that is coming out in 2008 ;)
