Most newer vehicles will shut down before 100 MPH because of ECM because of tire safety speed ratings of OEM tires. Beside I seriously doubt that the truck can even do 115 let along 130 because the amount of power required to overcome drag climbs rapidly with speed and it is not linear and P/U's have a LOT of drag too. You junior may have been doing wrong and speeding but someone is trying to pull a fast one to with a speed that is not correct. I would fight this one in court!

BTW, one of the fastest production 1/2 ton's is a Ford F150 Lightning and it tops out at around 145 MPH or so with 3 times the HP too.

+1. SnoMan is correct - modern engines are "governed" by the ECM (Engine Control Module) and are usually limited due to the speed rating of the OEM tires. I don't believe a V6 powered Ram could get to 130 mph even with the computer chip modified let alone stay there for any length of time - even 115-120 is pushing it. Ram PU's are not exactly aerodynamic and it takes a lot of hp & torque to get to those kind of speeds. Somebody's pulling your leg big time.

Don't know if pickups work like big trucks or not, but if so the computer would store the highest speed, as well as the highest RPM along with all the fault codes. Might be a simple matter of going to the dealer and geting it downloaded. If the tuck is anything like my sister's V6 Ram PU, it would take a 5 mile downgrade to get above 100.

I have had my share over the years.. And those who haven't had any tickets.. I had your share as well. Unless he knows people, or throws enough money at this.. In traffic court.. The defendant is GUILTY until proven innocent.
I was found guilty on several instances simply because I'd had tickets in the past.
For example
1981 Omni O24.. cracked cyl head.. speeding.. 78 in a 55.. believable.. except for the car only had 1/8 mile to get up to speed. Guilty.
1988 Suzuli Samuri.. 85 in a 55.. Nuff said.. try it sometime.
1986 Dodge Shelby Charger Turbo Fishtailing, smoking the tires.. and high rate of speed. Car ran from an unmanned, parked squad car.. which "chased" me for 20 minutes (1.5miles) in south FL(Naples) in August. Officer said he knew that was the MUSTANG he saw and had chased to that point. He could tell teh car had been driven that hard because the hood was hot. {NAPLES, FL in AUGUST) all hoods are hot. Guilty. Apparently, my FWD car was fishtailing and smoking the tires.. Laws of physics would lead to believe that for a FWD car to do that .. It would have to have been going backwards.. and he chased it 20 minutes over the next 1.5 miles.
1994 Dakota 2.5L.. 2 lane in town, 5pm traffic, bumper to bumper.. I was the only vehicle in bumper to bumper traffic that was going 20 over the speed limit.. and was supposedly being chased down. Guilty.
All I say is.. Good luck.. It doesn't matter if he was or could have been doing what was stated. The officer is right, because.. well.. that I haven't figured out yet. But I do not get a safe driver discount.
