Wire at the bottom of the front strut One for each front wheel-What is it for? Rate Topic: -----

If you were a registered user, you would not be seeing this!

Pulled off the front tires and noticed a wire that connects to the strut and connects to the body. Does anyone know what this is for? Is it something to do with the ABS system?

There are a couple of odd ground wires. Not only the struts, but the hood and If I remember right, the muffler. I`ve wondered about this too.

The wires between the chassis members are almost certainly there to reduce static electricity (electrical noise)...which would interfere with wireless and other electronic gear.

Both of them were broke so I fixed them. Also noticed the grounding wire connected to the muffler.

as stated above, they are ground wires. there should be one for each wheel.
The rotating assembly is isolated from the body by rubber bushings, thus no where for the static electricity generated by friction to disipate.
They are improtant, because the static build up can be so extreme that it actually arcs across the races in the wheel bearings and can cause premature failure.

...or so i believe.
