Boomers are retiring and probably looking for new activities. I plan to tow a travel trailer of around 3000Lbs. Even though at one time in my career I towed various utility trailers it was before CDL licensing and I find my knowledge vehicle setup lacking. I want to share what I find. I want to promote safe towing, feel free to share.

I strongly recommend the following link for determining the true towing capability of the tow vehicle:

http://changingears.com/rv-sec-calc-trailer-weight-tt.shtml

The important thing to remember is the Combined Vehicle Weight Rating (weight of tow vehicle, trailer and everything in them) is the legal maximum weight. Even if improvements (airbags, HD springs/shocks, HD brakes, etc) are made to the vehicle the CVWR does not change. It is the legal max weight rating for the vehicle with trailer.

I've moved my original post with the link to this towing subforum. Looks like your link to it still works.
