Hey guys - My father in law owns a 1974 dodge dart swinger w/ a 225 slant six. He is running the stock single barrel carb. Does anybody have a hose routing diagram for this carb?  Pics would be great.

Thanks!
Chad

There may be a label somewhere in the engine compartment  with a map of the hoses. If not, a factory service manual would picture them. Try a main local library?

Which hoses are you interested in? I've got a Haynes manual for the 67-76 Darts and Valiants that show a few of the connections, but probably not all of them. How many hoses are we talking about here?

EGR with its vacuum amplifier and thermo-valve, distributor vacuum advance with a possible OSAC valve, vapor purge and bowl vent, PCV and diverter valve/air pump if equipped. It depends if it was Federal or California emissions and hardware could be missing.

Personally. I never ran many vaccuum lines on my older motors.. Vaccuum advance and power brakes..
That was all I had on my '75 Fury 2BBL 400cid.
I slid a bar between the intake and lines.. and removed them for the rebuild..   I had no intentions of reinstalling them from square one.

I was always told those were the only two I really HAD to have..  So I simplified..
Have fun.

If I remember, It just had the push in breathers in the valve covers..  Vapor canister, charcoal filter, vacuum booster, wheel wells.. under that hood got all cleaned out.

For Federal and CDN emissions the EGR  most likely consists of the thin, ported line from the carb (above throttle plates) that runs to thermo switch at top of rad and then another thin line that continues directly to the EGR valve on throttle side of intake. The Amplifier did not come into use until a year or two later, I'd say even in CA.  The OSAC valve would be mounted on side of air cleaner and it would be setup to intercept the (ported) vacuum from carb to distributer. Pretty basic.  A sure way to test the EGR valve itself is to have the engine idling and connect a long enough hose to its' fitting. Apply suction to the open end and engine should immediately run rough and stall.

Maybe he'll show up at the meet ... opr maybe he found the diagram and felt too foolish to say anything...
