Well done. You hit most of it on the head. I'm sad to hear the 6.4 is not hitting middle 12's...I wanted one.....

A few (4-5) owners have reported, over at challengertalk.com, 12.40s[at]110+ with their showroom stock 392.  The record sits at 12.37[at]113 - stock. The 6SPD record is 12.65[at]110.  All of these times were in less than stellar summer weather.

The point being for those with the current 6.4.Dont think that Ford will sit still when the zl1 comes out.The srt design team should target both cars, ford and chevy and bring out a package that will outperform both.Ford and chevy are in a death match and its about time that Dodge enters the ring too.

I am not going to, nor do I need to, read the entire thread.  I'll sum it up, roger, you are claiming that Chrysler is irrelevant from the standpoint of performance because they show no signs of keeping up with the jones, am I right?  I certainly understand your sentiment.  I too would like to see Chrysler stay competitive with the ZL-1 and upcoming new GT500.  What you cannot forget about is the fact that Chrysler is still in the process of pulling themselves out of bankruptcy.  They have an excellent start, finally pulling in quarter profits and out pacing their pre-bankrupt sales figures.  I believe patients is the name of the game.  Do not count Chrysler out just yet.  Ralph Giles is a competitive guy and the Italians know a little something about performance.  There are rumors that Chrysler is in the process of exploring a Hyper-Challenger and do not forget that the Viper is on it's way, along with turbo charged cars.  Mopar is not dead, it is only readjusting itself after the near death experience of Chrysler.  Just be patient, the game has only just begun.  Never forget the big picture, Chrysler is coming, Ford and GM should be worried.

Taking the words of RS's mouth:

Quote

A SC 6.2L engine is currently under development at SRT. At this time I do not have additional information or a timeline...

The HEMI has, is and always will be underrated..

I think what Dodge needs to do with LX-cars, is to get them to the Nurburring and advertise the numbers.. Chevy is bragging about Camaro ZL1 numbers, Ford GT500 has been seen occaissionally around the 'ring..

Right on cue roger. Those $55 and $65K cars will enjoy the spot light for a bit just as the 392 did. Then Mopar will answer.

I feel like the mopar ship is sinking in the horsepower race with gm and ford. The new ford boss 302 440 hp.z28 camaro,  557 hp,mach one mustang due soon, shelby gt350 due soon. The hemi nameplates will soon disappear on all mopar vehicles and theres talk of removing hemi logo from the valve covers. This is to appear greener to the government while the competition is in a horsepower war.The new 6.4 -450-480hp is a joke, why waste the time. The new engine should have been a 7.0-426-with a aluminum block and 550 hp.I feel the challenger is the best looking car of the bunch but is losing  the war by leaps and bounds.Ford and Gm are in a dealth struggle while mopar is just a afterthought.Srt10 challenger would be a good idea but Fiat only has small cars on its mind.

Actually it has been my experience over the years (42 & counting) that my Dodge always outran "higher" horsepower GMs & Fords. For example: racing my buddy's 1976 Chevy 454 with my '75 Dart 318, 0 - 80 mph I was ahead everytime. :glare:

Well I'am still waiting for a answer from mopar, excuse my snoring. The fiat dart is coming,if you like shoeboxes, and cosmetic chargers and the 137 thousand dollar viper.Still no way without major surgery to modify 2011 and up cars or trucks. All you hear about is the zl1 camaro and the gt500 mustang.Since fiat has slandered the dart name ,can the cuda be next?

It has been my experience over the past 41 years that I have been following Chrysler products, that they almost always seem to be playing catch-up with fomoco and gm. But they always seem to pull a rabbit out of their hat when it comes to the "horsepower wars". Although I initially wanteda Challenger R/T, my wallet said I would have to settle for a SE. Now this is the first time I drove a Challenger with the 3.6 Pentastar engine with 305 hp, and I thought it ran rings around the 3.5 Challenger I had driven before. Now I don't know how many remember  how many hp a 1970's Challenger SE with either a /6 or 318 had, but in terms of hp, my 2011 Challenger with 305 advertised hp is more than enough to get me grinning! And when you figure the extra  $7000 that they charge for the 5.7 HEMI for 75 more hp, that is a Heck of a premium for that extra hp. I think they are are just biding their time because don't forget the new C.A.F.E. standards our dear leader has imposed on the industry! That has to be taken into consideration as well.

Just my 2 cents!

I see that chrysler is in a rush ,2015-2016 6.2 supercharged cuda. Its funny that gm and ford can respond in a years time to the competition .The aftermarket has all but abandoned the 2011 and up cars and trucks because of the lack of engine mods you can do.Arrington engines will probably have to change there name to gm and ford .com.

Iam still waiting for a answer. The new viper didnt change much from the 2010 model except price 137,000 dollars,Shelby 500 mustang 55.000 with 650 horses, viper 640 and twice the price. The pending 6.2 supeecharged  savior 530 hp,why bother.Mr norm, speedfactory, arrington engines all have been left holding the bag.The 2011 and up cars can't be modified and its hurting sales for chrysler. The aftermarket has all but abandoned chrysler and who can blame them.Mr norm are doing mustangs and camaros now to stay in business. Its unamerican not to be able to modify your so called muscle car,oh wait Fiat isn't american and they don't get it.The answer-a aluminum block na 426 retro lighweight cuda with a supercharger as a option with ability to modify if owner desires.Horsepower 550 to 700 depending on options. All high impact colors available all the time .I know this is all wishfull thinking and Fiat has no answers.

Yeah the Mustang might be faster than the Chally but the interior is almost all plastic,it looks like it rattle after some abuse.Even the GT500 has the same interior. If you have claustrophobia than do not get the Camaro.

".The new viper didnt change much from the 2010 model except price "

And the frame, and the body, and the engine, and the transmission, and the seats, and...
