FIOM, the Italian metalworkers union that has been in a bitter struggle with Fiat SpA over new labor agreements, says it will continue to observe the agreements reached in 2008 and will proceed with a four-hour strike next Monday, January 9, 2012. The union originally called the strike on December 16. According to FIOM leader Maurizio Landini, the actions will be tailored to each region. In his announcement, Landini said "There will be a campaign of extraordinary meetings in all workplaces, including preparation for a national demonstration in Rome on February 11." Landini says the union called the strike to protest Fiat's unilateral termination of its previous labor contracts and notes FIOM has not signed on to the new agreements. approved by FIM, UILM and Federmeccanica last year. Since this union has been ignored by Fiat and essentially decertified, it will be interesting go see what effect this work action has.
If there is any impact, it could be good news for Belvedere and Toledo.

Unfortunately, these folks either
1) can't see outside of the box , or
2) can't stand change or
3) don't understand global economies/manufacturing

I do know , Sergio will enlighten them, or leave them behind.

There is only one constant in Life - Change.

I feel for them, but they've got to wake up: the only way forward is through compromise.

+1, freshforged. I understand where they're coming from and to a degree I agree with them, but even if Sergio was a secret admirer, there's nothing he can do without destroying Fiat. I think he's fought to keep production in Italy but costs must come down for that to continue.

I find it ironic and maybe a little appropriate that they will go on strike the same day that the Alfa derived Dart is debuted.
It's kind of like bookends...
