While overall light vehicle sales were down 1.4 percent in 2011, Jeep sales jumped 61.8 percent in the 27 member states of the European Union and the four European Free Trade Association countries last year Based on figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Jeep enjoyed triple-digit growth in Germany (124 percent) and Italy (117.6 percent) and hit double-digit improvements in France (71.7 percent) and Spain (21.2 percent). In December, a month in which European sales fell 5.8 percent, Jeep sales bucked the trend, rising 47.8 percent. Worldwide Jeep sales rose 41 percent. “The increase in Jeep sales in Europe is evidence that Chrysler Group’s integration with the Fiat Group is clearly working,” said Jeep CEO Mike Manley. “Much of the Jeep brand’s success in Europe can be attributed to a strengthened dealer network, as well as a rollout of new Jeep models for the European market – including..

Not that a major breakdown would matter, the question to Sergio is, if the Jeep brand is doing this well, why would they change the platform from the floorpan down? I imagine part of the sales is due to what is above the floorpan, so why change that?

Does this help Norm?

No help. In essence they are reskinning Alfa's and adding Jeep engineered traction control.

I think you now understand why I won't purchase a new one from this company after 2009.

Jeep sales were up  44.7% in Australia to 8648 units sold. The increase  pretty much was contributed to Grand Cherokee sales alone.  Dodge sales up to 41.0%. This year it's expected to be another record year.

I will still buy Wrangler's ..at least until the 2014 refresh. If they screw that up, Jeep is toast and I'll buy used, but we are a long way's off from that point and I would pray Manley/Marchionne are smart enough to NOT change Wrangler.
I do feel your pain as I once bought a new Grand Cherokee every two years, it no longer fits my wants. (I really wasn't 100% happy with it because I prefer the cargo room of the full sized Cherokee, but with four doors, note the 4 door Wagoneer  did not have big enough wheel wells, but I also have two of those)
I used to buy a new XJ every few years, the Liberty I replaced it with doesn't meet my wants, but we'll keep it until it dies and look for a diesel Wrangler 4 door or pick up a new pre-refreshed Wrangler, (if Wrangler changes) and drop in a Hemi.
The Hemi gets the same or better fuel economy than the 3.7 gets now.
I've owned the MJ, no longer made.
I've owned FSJ's no longer made.
I've owned Gladiators, no longer made.
I've owned FC's, no longer made.
I've owned CJ5, no longer made.
I've owned CJ7, no longer made.
I've owned ZJ, no longer made.
I've owned WJ, no longer made.
I've owned XJ's, no longer made.
I've owned KJ, no longer made.
Judging by my pattern, I should buy Alfa's and Fiats, ..so they will no longer be made... and we can get back to some real Jeeps... ;)
