A four-door hatchback car to be called the Fiat 500L (L for Large) will be launched around the world, according to Automotive News. The car, based on the new L-Zero, uses the SCSS platform, as does the Fiat Punto, rather than the B-car platform used by the Fiat 500 itself. Thus, while the Fiat 500L will have similar styling to the Fiat 500, it will not share many key dimensions. The Fiat 500L is to start selling in Europe in July, in seven and five seat form; the American version will only be a five-seater. The 500L will replace the Fiat Idea, as predicted by Dan Minick. The American version will most likely use the same engines as the Fiat 500, while European models might get a small diesel and the turbocharged two-cylinder. The Fiat 500L will be built in Serbia.

Wow. A 7-seat 500L? And I thought 7 seats in a RAV4 or a Journey was a bit much...

According to reports coming from Italy (Corriere Della Sera newspaper and MF Dow Jones), the name chosen for the ellezero based car is 500L, where the L stands for Large. If this report is accurate, it lends credibility to the rumors about FIATs intention of creating a whole family of 500 cars (a la MINI) to be exported worldwide, and also confirms the probable stylistic relation to the 500.

Think Ford C-max 7seater, or Renault Grande Scenic  (we've had this on the prediction list for about 2yrs now)

those are d segment mpvs. I doubt that a b mpv and a d mpv would share a platform let alone look alike as these two cars are supposed to.

Two corrections, the L0 seats 5, the L1 variant (stretched) would eventually sit 7. Both are based on SUSW (US compliant and can adopt the ZF9hp plus AWD and hybrid), not SCSS which is the "old"/current Grande Punto and Punto Evo project.

You have to upgrade to 17" wheels or go with the Limited trim, and it deletes the cargo cover and one-touch 2nd row fold options, but yes - it's available.

This should absolutely help. There was one in the parking lot yesterday and the daughter and I took a quick walk-around the little 500, and although it should sell better than it does, it makes the wife's Mini Cooper look like a sedan. The only thing smaller is the For-two, and that back seat is smaller than a lot or rear window trays. The four door version would at least make it a small car vice clown car, and the color....so far I have seen a brown T*** looking color and the ugliest dark green one, not very appealing at all according to my daughter (to which I had to agree).

Any pictures, or when will pictures be available?

There are several other threads regarding the Fiat L0 or ElleZero - that will give a clue.

I could not follow the  as-noted SUBSCRIPTION link. Seven passenger seems like it would be (no pun intended) a stretch to pull off for that chassis, imo.
