Update: Allpar now has exclusive interior and exterior photography of these launches. See the pages below. In a ceremony webcast on many sites (including Allpar), Mopar revealed four custom vehicles from its Center Line headquarters. The only one to be sold as a full Mopar-branded car is the Mopar ’12 300; the others are essentially packages for existing cars, the Dodge Dart “GTS 210 Tribute,” Fiat 500 “Stinger,” and Mopar Jeep® Compass “True North.” (Dan Minick pointed out that Dodge Stinger was Allpar's suggested name for a Dodge B-segment, three years ago.) Of some note, with a free-flowing exhaust and modified computer, the Dodge Dart GTS tribute surpasses the Dart R/T's normal 184 horsepower to reach 210 horsepower, a substantial gain and an indication of things to come. The Mopar ’12 300 will be available this summer, while components of the Fiat 500, Jeep Compass, and Dodge Dart cars will..

Note the 210 horsepower rating of the Dart with free flow exhaust and Mopar computer. I'd guess though it requires premium gas.

I would like to see the torque curve as well as the torque number.  If its all the HP is upstairs in the 5900+ rev range you are not going to feel much of a difference. I  wonder if they are going to make an SRT version of this car...or if the SRT version will be based off this car. 210 Hp ain't bad though.

Now the Compass looks good. I've been wonderin why this new Compass does not share similar wheel flares as std like new Grand Cherokee. This one item only makes them look much more alike. I would like to see those matte wheel flares becoming standard for Compass and with those it would look instantly more mini GCish. That most likely has been the target anyway from the beginning...

That Dart is hot.  What other NA 4 cylinder makes that much power, besides the Honda S2000?  Love it.  Just as curious about this True North.  Is it the Rubicon for Compass or more of an appearance package?

I saw that and I wonder if this package is the basis of the 200+HP Tiger Shark rumors?

I'm waiting for the B-spec Fiat 500 equivalent of the Neon ACR for SCCA showroom stock competition. I want a Q ship like my DOHC Neon was.

Norm-

whats your take on the Compass? IMO it makes the compass how it should have always looked. More off-road and more like a Jeep not a car.

Yes it "looks" better. It's ability to "be" better is not appreciably changed.

The spacer lift is similar to one that was tried on Liberty and it failed to generate much interest, but not from lack of effort on the part of thousands of Liberty owners.
Adding spacers and pucks to the stock springs creates many unforeseen issues with ride, handling and tire wear. In essence you are placing the springs into a permanent jounce mode.
A much better way to accomplish lift is to add progressive rated coil springs and tuned shocks.
The problem with doing that on Compass and with Liberty, is the A arms are too short and the suspension travel too limiting. Once you start to cycle the suspension into a range that Jeep engineers weren't allowed to compensate for, you start having issues with steering geometry and drive axle CV joint failure.
There is not enough adjustment designed into these car suspensions to compensate for the changes in caster and camber caused by these lifts.
The sole functional purpose for a suspension lift is to add larger tires for increased capability, ground clearance, traction and handling. The fender openings on the Compass and Patriot are too small, even with this lift, to accommodate larger tires.
If you could properly raise the Compass and Patriot AND install larger tires that would not rub at every change in terrain, the CVT would not long survive the additional stresses placed upon it.
Unlike JK, XJ and WJ, there was not enough flexibility designed into these newer vehicles to allow any changes or upgrading by the aftermarket, not at least without considerable expense and extreme modifications.
That, in a nutshell, is what is wrong with the premise of turning cars into Jeeps.

I should add, that unless you have the Freedom Drive II with low range, the larger tires would create havoc with the 4 cylinder engines ability to move the Compass in rough terrain.
