You may need to start over with the lens refinishing.

I used some simple plastic polish on my 01 Sebring coupe headlights and it got rid of all the yellow and really cleared it up with just a few minutes of hand polishing. I don't know about the clear coat though, this would be for later, but it worked great for me, and I just had it laying around.
