I have a 2001 300M which is exhibiting some starting problems.  It might not start with first key try, but then starts on next try.  I removed the battery and checked it - it was good.  Also made sure to clean the connections and put it back, but didn't fix the problem.  Does someone have experience with this on your 300M?  Might be a relay, hope not a starter, but not sure at this point

thx

Did you check codes? Is it only since you refilled the tank? Check the spark plugs?

No codes.  This is purely a connection issue.  The first key try does not result in starter actuation. As noted, this is either a relay or potentially a bad spot on the starter.  However, not sure.

What do you mean by refilling the tank?

Do you just get a 'click' or nothing?
Do the dash or headlamps dim when turned to the 'start' position?
Any aftermarket alarm or remote-start systems?
Have you tried moving the shifter to N and then tried cranking it?

"What do you mean by refilling the tank? "

Just thinking bad gas might be an issue. The key dance would also be a good thing to try. http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html
