Chrysler production has risen dramatically in January 2012, compared with January 2011, despite buildout of the Dodge Caliber, Dodge Dakota, and Dodge Nitro in 2011. Nearly every model saw a hike in production, with the notable exceptions of Chrysler Town & Country (balanced by more Caravans), Volkswagen Routan, and, now that the pipeline has been filled, Dodge Durango. Well, that's past production - maybe they'll slow down now ;)

Not likely 'till Ram's pipelined!

Windsor Assembly is working Saturday and has built Max Production every day this week.  Doesn't look like things are gonna slow down.  Februaryis usually a slow month

Chrysler buying market share now, pushing hard on incentives, leveraging their advantage as low cost producer post bankruptcy.
Only problem with this is very little profit margin, as evidenced by fourth quarter.
Expect big markdowns and more rebates as the year goes along.

yeah, 3k off a 200 should move tons of them. I mean, haggle down to invoice on top of that, and it just undercuts everyone.

as i've said before, Chrysler is Ford's and GM's worst nightmare, Chrysler is killing pricing for both of them and even the Japanese and Koreans are rebating more and more.
saving GM and Chrysler is why the auto industry will end up like the airline industry with too many companies and no profit margin.
like it or not, classic economics says GM and Chrysler should have been liquidated to allow only the strong and better managed to survive and eliminate excess capacity and allow for healthy profit margins. if you look across the industry even the most profitable are only netting out 3% to 5%. now having said that, i realize politically no country is going to allow their auto companies to go under. all this is great news for the consumer, not so good for producers.
GM made a huge mistake not doing a shotgun marriage with Chrysler per the government's wishes.
Ford and GM will continue to slip share to Chrysler and Chrysler is going to eat away at both of them for the 50% of the consumers who will only buy American.

jsb, you must work for Ford or a Ford dealer, by the way businesses use lower prices to 1) buy into a market or 2) to squeeze out the competition so that you can control profit margins. I would say that Chrysler is trying to buy a little market space.Ford has done that for years, pile um high, sell them cheap to gain control of the fleet business with their trucks.

race to the bottom is what the incentive game is.
but hey, i'm not complaining, i'm ready to buy a Patriot and they just raised the rebate to $1,000 on all trim levels even the base Sport.

Looking at rebates shows that the Liberty and Avenger are at $3,000 off, Charger is $2,000 off, 300, Challenger, Caliber, and Rams are at $1,500 off, and everything else is at $1,000 other than the Journey and Ram C/V at $500.

I would say these are not end of the world incentives. Liberty and Avenger are not long for this world. The LX cars being the highest of the new stuff is interesting, but what are their competitors rebates right now? Isn't February a slow month?

I used http://www.lotpro.co...entives/rebates to find this and it appears to be checking out with the manufacture pages.
