Geneva seems appropriate for a reveal of the Jeep intended for European consumption. I'm very interested in seeing what this will look like. Though I'm not big on it being a Jeep Jeepster, hope that's not the final name. Maybe only 3 months till many questions are answered.

the Jeepster name is fitting for such a vehicle in its class.

The name is repetitive, just sounds funny to me. But apparently weird is the new game at Jeep.

Sounds like great use of the name plate to me.

That was disappointing.   Allpar has pictures up with the cool concept car and the mules are old school boring hatchbacks pretending to be SUV's.

Searching at TMview (International trademark database search) website for Jeepster than one can see that since september the EU registration procedure started (starting country it is France) + there are other countries trademark registration.

So, most likely, Jeepster it is.    Also, Fiat filed for Alfa 133 and Alfa 144 within the past few months.

The "Jeepster" trademark in the US was registered by Kaiser Jeep way back in December of 1965 (approved in 12/1966), and was renewed for a second time in October of 2006 by Chrysler LLC.

What are the odds of them using solid axles and does Fiat use solid axles on any of their small 4x4s?

Probably about one in a million.

The entire point of the exercise is to commonize parts and architecture without anyone (customers) knowing.
So while someday that might happen, it won't happen in this economic environment and it won't happen under this management.
Given the debt, it's more like one in 14 billion.

I love the old Jeepster but looking at these pics sure makes my stomach sick! That looks like a Fiat 500 variation with the Jeepster name? UGH!

Should wait for pictures of the new mules going out from the "pilotino" area of FIAT SATA plant.

"Pilotino" is a R&D area where they have a mini assembly line to test / improve / teach to workers manufacturing processes for new vehicles.

It will not have solid axles. I feel quite confident in making that pronouncement.
