Chrysler 200 rendering

Chrysler Canada issued a press release on the Chrysler 200 (speculative rendering above), saying the four-cylinder World Gas Engine would come with a six-speed automatic. This counters earlier rumors that it would have either a four speed or six speed, but it is possible that Chrysler Canada is configuring its cars differently (or it will have a four speed on base models and an optional six speed).

The actual text includes:

The all-new Chrysler 200 includes an advanced new powertrain lineup featuring the 2.4 - litre 16 valve variable valve timing I-4 World Gas Engine mated to an available six-speed automatic, or the all-new 3.6 litre 24-valve variable valve timing Pentastar V-6 engine which produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic for best-in-class power and performance, while delivering outstanding fuel economy.

Other features that distinguish the all-new Chrysler 200 are new ride and handling tuning including stiffened body mounts and softer ride rate, new suspension geometry with a raised roll centre, a new sway bar, and new 17-inch wheels and tires. The Chrysler 200 also receives and extensively upgraded treatment for the reduction of noise, vibration and harshness including acoustic laminated glass for the windshield and front door windows.
