This Jeep Wrangler was recently spied on Chrysler’s home turf (the headquarters tower is in the background). It appears to be a Jeep J8, a beefed-up Wrangler Unlimited assembled in Cairo, was created for fleet use by governments and other agencies, for use in demanding conditions; there is a high-roof ambulance version as well as the standard roofless and hard-top J8. The J8’s predecessor had two doors with the extended wheelbase, for a similar profile.
This particular model appears to be diesel powered, with rear leaf springs, according to reader “red_00xj,” who wrote that it is not a prototype but is here for engineering purposes. Further development on the J8 seems likely, based on the vehicle’s being kept around the CTC. This might indicate that the J8 has been selling well enough to merit investment, or that management believes there is a market for it, if they can develop the vehicle sufficiently.
