All 44 cars competing in the ARCA Daytona 200 have had practice runs; while these began at 1 pm EST and were scheduled to go four hours, they were called off early due to rain. At 3 pm, the first results were posted; Michel Disdier, running a Cunningham Motorsports Charger, was the 13th fastest and ran 8 laps. #77, Tom Hessert, was 17th fastest, running 12 laps. Other Dodge racers were further behind.
With relatively little time to prepare, Dodge cars ended up behind competitors in Daytona 200 qualifying. The short first session had some teams scrambling; Roger Carter (running the #40 and #97 cars) said, “Well, as predicted, both Dodge cars are not good by themselves. We are confident they will be decent in the race. We only ran a couple of laps. We are just working on our race set up.”
