Jeep wiper recall, Ram recall incentives

Around 206,000 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees around the world are being recalled because their windshield wipers may fail if activated in dry conditions. Static can take out the control module.  So far, there are no known accidents or injuries.

The fix is installing a ground strap to the module. Customers will be notified when dealers can do this free preventive fix.

Will the next FCA CEO be an American?

While Sergio Marchionne said he might be willing to stick around at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) until 2020 if needed, at 63, he has expressed a desire to retire from the jet-setting job.

FCA+GM: Clearing misconceptions

Yesterday, Automotive News reported that reporter Larry Vellequette had been invited to a long, rare personal interview with Fiat Chrysler (FCA) chief Sergio Marchionne. The main topic was a merger with GM; Mr. Marchionne said that the numbers were far too good to pass up the opportunity, since the two companies are so close in what they make.

Sergio: FCA+GM, even if it means a ”bear hug” — Yes, it’s real


While General Motors has clearly spurned Fiat Chrysler’s desire to talk about a merger, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is doubling down on his efforts to bring one about. Allpar show to include ’22 Dodge Bros, classic muscle

The annual Allpar New Jersey meet and car show is coming up on September 12, hosted by Teterboro Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram on Route 46 in Little Ferry.

The 1922 Dodge Brothers car featured in Allpar is slated to be at the show, along with well-restored classic muscle cars and a variety of other vintage vehicles.

Sergio not giving up on GM; Suzuki free of VW


In an article in Automotive News, Larry Vellequette reported that Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne isn’t giving up on a merger with General Motors, as we reported earlier today.

Marchionne showed Mr. Vellequette spreadsheets and figures, saying that the merged companies could realize an EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of $28-$30 billion in a market with a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 17 million cars and light trucks.

Lawrence pads lead; Vipers finish 1-2-3

Two-time Trans Am champion Cameron Lawrence built up his points lead with a runner-up finish in today’s Next Dimension 100 at Road America.

Lawrence, driving the No. 1 Mopar Dodge Challenger, took the pole position in the TA2 class in qualifying on Friday. From the pole, he led the class for most of the race after opening up a big lead in the early laps.

Is keyless ignition a killer?

Fiat Chrysler is one of several defendants in a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

According to a Reuters report, Draeger et al v. Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. et al, brought 28 plaintiffs, is based on the claim that automakers failed to inform consumers about the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning in vehicles with keyless ignitions.

These ignitions allow the vehicle to be started without inserting a key.
