Challenger ADR: Extra power, traction coming?

by David Zatz on

Almost lost in the flood of new products reportedly shown in Nevada was a Dodge Challenger ADR, designed for street and strip. Danno reported that the ADR stands for American Drag Racer, and that it would focus on traction, a tough nut to crack for a 700+ horsepower car using street-legal tires.

To handle traction, the car will, Danno wrote, have 315-width tires on all four wheels, with a “wide body” to cover the extra width. (This may involve flares or different quarter panels.) The rear suspension will be modified and presumably the driveshaft will be beefed up. There’s also a possibility of a substantial Hellcat power boost.

The car would be made around calendar-year 2018, a fairly hefty investment if, as rumors are claiming, the V8 is slated to leave cars after 2019.
