FCA is giving away an upgrade for some 2013-2015 vehicles with the Uconnect 8.4 system.

The revised firmware, which allows use of Siri Hands Free with iPhones, works with nearly two million cars and SUVs  including the 2013-15 Ram pickups (1500, 2500, 3500), and Dodge Viper; 2014-15 Dodge Durango, Jeep Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Cherokee; and 2015 Jeep Renegade, Chrysler 200 and 300, and Dodge Challenger and Charger.

Various 2016 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Fiat cars with  Uconnect 8.4 or 6.5 systems also support the system; and some will  support CarPlay.

Owners can get the update from the Mopar owners’ site; they will need their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The update takes around 30 minutes and requires a blank USB thumb drive.

Siri Eyes Free lets drivers interact with their iPhone 4S and newer phones without looking at the in-dash screen. It is integrated with the steering wheel button and lets people make phone calls, send text messages, play music, set reminders and calendar entries, and use turn-by-turn directions.
