New Chrysler minivans book: from rejection to a hit

Rise and reinvention of Chrysler minivans

Perhaps no vehicle was more instrumental in saving Chrysler Corporation in the 1980s than the minivan. The K cars probably got more press, but the minivans made more money.

The minivan idea was kicking around the halls of Highland Park long before Lee Iacocca arrived from Ford—starting as thoughts on altering commercial vans for everyday use. Thanks to some incredible research from author (and Allpar creator) David Zatz,

Peugeot’s new trucks could be the new Ram 1200 — but not in the USA

Peugeot Landtrek

Peugeot, in partnership with a Chinese company, has released specs and photos of its new pickup trucks. Running the same class as the current Mitsubishi L200 / Ram 1200 / Fiat Fullback (and the old Dodge Dakota), this pickup looks like a “lifestyle truck” but is designed for commercial use. However, given the target market, it’s unlikely to meet safety and marketing standards for the United States without considerable (and expensive) re-engineering.

2018 Dodge Demons are readily available for purchase

When the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon went on sale back in 2017, it didn’t take long for all 3,300 units slated for consumer purchase to be ordered. Most were ordered by actual customers and some were ordered by dealerships or representatives of the dealership, but for the most part, it was not easy to find an available allocation during the ordering process. It was even harder to find one without a huge dealership markup,

There is no question that Dodge does a better job of promoting their performance vehicles on social media than any other automaker, but Valentine’s Day might be the best example.

For the past three years now, Dodge has issued a short video celebrating Valentine’s Day with a pair of muscle cars doing burnouts. We have included the videos for 2018, 2019 and 2020 here and they may have had similar videos in years prior;

Power Dollars still active on 2019 Challenger, Charger into March

While attending the opening days of the 2020 Chicago Auto Show last week, I noticed that there were Power Dollars signs next to a Challenger and Charger. We had initially reported back in January that the Power Dollars program had been extended through the end of January, but upon seeing the signs in McCormick Place, we confirmed with the folks from Dodge that the program had been extended into the beginning of March.
