First Jeep® J8 fleet shipped
The first 17 Jeep® J8s left yesterday for Egypt, going to 14 countries in Europe and the Middle East. The Jeep J8 is based on the long-wheelbase Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and has two and four door versions, with a higher payload than standard Wrangler Unlimiteds. The J8 has a more competitive price than the Hummer, and is well suited to nonmilitary commercial roles as well, including use by oil exploration firms and relief organizations. The vehicles were built by Arab American Vehicles Company (AAV), a joint venture between Chrysler and the Egyptian government (the Arab Organization for Industrialization), which assembles the Jeep Cherokee (Liberty) and the J8 from imported kits.
