CPO Neon, PT Cruiser among most affordable gas misers
The Dodge Neon and Chrysler PT Cruiser are among the most affordable fuel-efficient Certified Pre-Owned vehicles, according to Edmunds.com.
A three-year-old Neon should cost about $7,876 under Edmunds’ True Market Value guidelines. A one-year-old PT Cruiser has a TMV of $11,126. True Market Value calculations for certified pre-owned vehicles include dealer inspection and reconditioning costs, the cost of a manufacturer warranty and, depending on the manufacturer, additional benefits like loaner vehicles and roadside assistance programs.
Joe Spina, Senior Manager of Remarketing for Edmunds.com says, “The uncertain economic environment has created a climate well-suited to CPO vehicles.” Spina added, “CPO vehicles give consumers the opportunity to spend less than the cost of a new vehicle and still enjoy the benefits of a factory-backed warranty.”
Edmunds.com warns potential buyers not to mistake a dealer program with a true manufacturer CPO program: dealer programs often have fewer benefits and may not be honored by other dealers.
