Keith Black Racing Engines looking for a buyer
The legendary Keith Black engine firm, known for its work on modifying Chrysler Hemi engines for drag racing, is now for sale, according to Ken Black, the company’s president. Most of the employees have been laid off, but parts are still in stock and engines that were ordered are being completed. Ken said that an increased number of orders could change their fortunes, but in the meantime, the company is for sale.
Drag Racing Online, which broke the news, noted that Keith Black opened his first shop in 1959; he died in 1991, at the age of 64, after battling cancer, and his son Ken took over the business. Four years later, Keith was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1995. Keith Black Racing Engines is at (562) 869-1518. (Thanks, Mike LAlouette and Scott M.)
