WSJ: GM, Cerberus pushing for deal by the end of this month

The Wall Street Journal is reporting the merger discussions between General Motors and Chrysler are moving forward. Both sides are seeing strong support from banks and other potential lenders eager to see a deal  go through.

Citing people familiar with the discussions, the Journal says GM is pushing to get a deal done as early as the end of October. The other major players pushing for a deal are JP Morgan Chase & Co., one of the largest holders of Chrysler bank debt and a key lender to GM, and Cerberus.
