GI Jobs: Chrysler one of the top military-friendly employers

Chrysler has been named one of the “Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers” by G.I. Jobs magazine, and was the only automaker to make the list. 2,500 companies with a minimum of $1 billion in annual revenues were eligible to receive the honor, which was based on assets dedicated to military hiring, reserve/guard policies, percentage of new hires who are veterans, veteran training programs, and the previous three years’ rankings.

G.I. Jobs recognized Chrysler’s efforts to support former military personnel by providing free training and direct job leads for corporate and dealer level jobs through www.ChryslerHonoringThoseWhoServe.com.

Chrysler, which was #43 (sound familiar?) on the list, also works with Operation Gratitude, the Freedom Calls Foundation, and the USO, and recently accepted the 2008 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, given by the U.S. government to employers for outstanding support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

Operation Gratitude has been given Jeep vehicles for two soldiers receiving care packages, and the Freedom Calls Foundation has been given access to Chrysler’s world headquarters’  videoconferencing to allow family members and their soldiers to see and talk to each other. The program is expanding to establish connection centers in dealerships across the United States.

G.I. Jobs is published by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business in Pittsburgh which also publishes Military Spouse and Vetrepreneur.
