Mopar to launch 400 new items
Mopar, Chrysler LLC’s accessory and performance parts arm, plans to bring out over 400 new performance parts for Chrysler vehicles in 2009. Numerous new products whill be shown at the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, which runs from Nov. 4-7 in Las Vegas.New electronic features, including a rear park distance system, portable navigation unit, and an iPod integration kit, will be available, along with KICKER® audio upgrades and uconnect web, which wirelessly links select personal electronics to the Internet. Mopar DVD head rests provide an interesting way to add rear seat video.
For the Dodge Challenger, Mopar will sell an aluminum ram-air hood, rear spoiler, 20-inch “heritage” wheels with classic styling, and retro Hurst shifter.
The 2009 Dodge Ram will get wheel flares, a dual-snorkel hood, body kits, and other components.
Performance parts include cold air intakes, cat-back exhausts, and, for the Caliber SRT4, a new Stage 1 turbo kit. New crate engines will include 340ci six-pack and 410ci six-pack V-8 options, and a 440 short-block estimated at 530 hp and 540 lb. ft. of torque.
Chassis parts will include a coilover suspension kit, using Viper ACR technology adapted to the Challenger and Caliber. Lift kits for the Ram and Wrangler will allow for bigger tires, and new axles will include Dana 44 upgrades for Wranglers and Power Wagons.
