Chrysler joins credit union plan

Chrysler has followed GM by making a deal with the Michigan Credit Union League which makes low-cost loans available to Chrysler buyers, in return for additional discounts for members of participating credit unions. The plan will be expanded to 2,500 credit unions in 12 states, with nearly 25 million customers; around $25 billion is available for the loans. The “Invest in America” program, which has also been offered to Ford, will run through June 30, 2009. States involved so far are Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas; buyers must finance the vehicle through a participating credit union.
