Dodge Ram pickup named as Truck of the Year finalist

The Dodge Ram 1500 pickup is one of the finalists for the 2009 North American Truck of the Year award. It’s going up against the new Ford F-150 pickup and the Mercedes-Benz ML320 BlueTec diesel SUV.

The winner is determined by a vote of 50 automotive journalists in the United States and Canada and will be presented next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Car of the Year finalists include the Volkswagen Jetta TDI diesel, which was recently named “Green Car of the Year,” the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan and the Ford Flex station wagon.

The German vehicle are the first diesels to be considered in the award’s 15-year history.
