Jalopnik reveals Chrysler’s 2009 launches
Jalopnik has just posted details on the various launches scheduled by Chrysler for all of 2009. They noted, “Thanks to not being invited to today’s secret Chrysler future product event, we’re not covered by any embargoes. Good. Because that means we’re able to tell you all about Chrysler’s future product plans…today! … Remember to thank Chrysler PR man Rick Deneau for all this information! It’s his continually shortsighted approach to the internet and a lack of desire to reach out to our readership — by specifically excluding us and Autoblog from embargo access — that made this post possible. Give Rick a big hand folks!”
(Note: Allpar also does not receive embargoed information at this time. Allpar has printed advance information but has never broken an embargo unless a larger news source has already done so. Our understanding in the past has been “Once it’s out there, it’s out there.” However, we are apparently still being blamed for a leak that occurred in South America…as though that would somehow benefit Allpar?)
At the Detroit Auto Show, we can expect to see a new electric vehicle – the Jeep Patriot version. There is actually a possibility this will be produced.
At the Chicago Auto Show, the 2010 Dodge Ram chassis cabs will be shown.
At the New York Auto Show, the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee will appear. Ray Wert wrote that it would have a 7,700 pound tow rating, aluminum front axle, and low rolling resistance tires. We have more details (follow the link). A new Dodge Durango was also shown – presumably the rumored one to be based on the Grand Cherokee.
Apparently, the more privileged journalists were also shown a 2011 300 and Charger, with the Charger sporting the retro look we’ve been hearing about. The new interiors and exteriors are supposed to be quite good.
Another advanced Internet/music/navigation feature was shown, this one using a tablet PC.
