Caravan stumbles, loses minivan crown to Odyssey
A 67 percent plunge in December sales of the Dodge Caravan ended Chrysler’s long reign at the top of the minivan market. The Honda Odyssey, with 135,493 sales, bested the Dodge which came in second with 123,479. The Chrysler Town & Country (118,563), which was the top-selling minivan in December, came in third, followed by the Toyota Sienna (115,944).
For December, the rankings were Town & Country (8,152), Odyssey (6,950), Caravan (6,927) and Sienna (6,901).
Chrysler remains the clear leader in total minivan sales with a total of 242,042 Chrysler-badged sales and 3,387 sales of the Chrysler-built Volkswagen Routan.
