C&D says new Dodge Ram is top pickup
In a three-way comparison of the top-selling pickups, Car and Driver says the new 2009 Dodge Ram won hands down.
Called a “breakthrough truck” by C&D editor Pat Bedard, the Ram outscored the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado, racking up 212 points in 25 categories compared to 205 for the Ford and 204 for the Chevy.
Editors liked the new Ram Box, redesigned rear suspension and convenient in-cab storage. The HEMI engine and 3.51 rear axle also made the Ram quicker than its rivals, scoring more points with the C&D team.
The Ram also received high marks for styling: Editor Tony Swan said “…(T)he forward-canted grille is a welcome change from decades of bows whose designs seem to have been inspired by Great Lakes iron-ore freighters.”
