Press: Chrysler could be viable by spring

Speaking to reporters at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in New Orleans, Chrysler President Jim Press said the company could be viable by spring this year.

Press said viability depended on Chrysler being able to complete the restructuring that is already underway, an improvement in the credit situation and the introduction of improved vehicles. He added that his idea of viable meant the company was solvent and had the ability to invest in new vehicles and repay the government loans it as received. Press sad he did not have any insight as to when the company might return to being profitable.
