Chrysler drops 35% in Canada

December 2008 sales for Chrysler brands dropped 35% vs December 2007, leading to a full-year drop of nearly 10,000 vehicles after high numbers for most of the year. All three brands were hit. For the full year, Chrysler sold 222,996 vehicles in 2008, making it the #3 automaker – behind leaders General Motors and, surprisingly, Toyota, which overtook Ford for the #2 position. Ford was just 3,000 vehicles behind Chrysler in sales; Honda was just over 1,000 vehicles ahead. GM is the undisputed Canadian leader, with 356,740 sales, while  #5 Honda is far behind the “three #2s” at 171,358. Honda and Toyota both saw massive drops in December sales.
