Chrysler-Fiat deal to be decided Thursday

Fiat SpA Vice Chairman John Elkann says the company will decide on finalizing its deal with Chrysler LLC on Thursday.

“The Chrysler deal will be decided on Thursday evening our time, end of day in the United States. Up ’til the end, we won’t have much detail,” Elkannn said. He added that the negotiations are now “in the hands of the task force,” referring to the Obama Administration’s auto task force.

Asked about possible scenarios should Chrysler be forced to file bankruptcy, Elkann responded, “Chapter 11 is a term that implies many possibilities, we will need to see what the possibilities will be. We will need to be patient until Thursday.”
