Fiat deal finalizing 4/30/09

Fiat has announced that a final deal with Chrysler will be arrived at – or not – by the end of business on Thursday, April 30, 2009.

Bloggers and pundits are still desperately predicting a Chrysler bankruptcy, in hopes of  keeping circulation figures up on the drama of thousand-dollar lawyers, homeless retirees, and endless court judgements, but if a deal is reached with Fiat, the only holdout will be some of Chrysler’s creditors. The Obama administration has been pressuring these parties and may be able to enforce the deal made with the major creditors, allowing Chrysler to buy enough time to benefit from its new products and a general economic recovery.
