More plant closings?
Joseph Szczensy of the Oakland Press wrote that Chrysler could close five factories as part of a reorganization, including the Brampton plant that makes the Challenger and is slated to build the 200C. The list of factories was developed in response to the Obama administration’s desire for deeper cuts. The other assembly plants being examined for closure are in St. Louis, where trucks are made, and Sterling Heights, where the mid-sized cars are made. The latter had been expected to build Fiat-designed vehicles as well. Also on the list were engine plants in Detroit, Trenton (Michigan), and Kenosha (Wisconsin).
