Chrysler employees may avoid unpaid vacation
Chrysler salaried employees may still avoid a two-week, unpaid furlough. In one of its bankruptcy filings, the company had said such an action would be taken in the next nine weeks as a cost-saving measure.
Now, Chrysler said it may be able to achieve the needed budget savings in other ways. In an internal message to its staff, Chrysler said, “We are working hard to assess our progress toward the budget savings … and hope to achieve sufficient savings to delay any unpaid leave or to render it unnecessary.”
The automaker admitted the planned leave could cause problems for its reorganization, saying that the work employees are doing to complete the asset sale to Fiat “may make it difficult to implement unpaid leave for many employees.”
