Fun Facts for Chrysler fans
Next time someone tells you Chrysler is a loser, hit ‘em with some facts. After four months of sales in the 2009 Calendar year, here’s how the company stacks up:
Chrysler is outselling the combined totals of Lincoln and Mercury. Chrysler also is outselling the Buick, Cadillac, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn brands.
Dodge is outselling the combined totals of Buick, Cadillac, Hummer, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn. Dodge is the third best-selling American brand after Ford and Chevrolet. Dodge is the sixth best-selling brand in the U.S. market. In April, Dodge outsold Nissan to become the fifth best-selling brand for the month.
Since January, Dodge has sold more Chargers than Buick, Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercury or Saturn have sold cars. In April, the Charger outsold every passenger car model from Buick, Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercury, Pontiac or Saturn except the Pontiac G6 and it was only 47 sales behind the G6.
Sales of the Dodge Journey are 165 percent of those of the Ford Flex. Even in the very bad month of April, the Journey was 39 percent ahead of the heavily promoted Flex.
Jeep is outselling GMC, one of GM’s “core” brands. The Jeep Wrangler outsells every other traditional SUV as well as every GM light truck except the Silverado pickup and every Ford light truck except the F-Series pickup and Escape CUV. Pretty good considering Jeep doesn’t even have a pickup. The Wrangler is also the only American-badged light truck that not only beat its April 2008 sales but is also ahead of its sales for the first four months of 2008 (this doesn’t count new vehicles like the Ford Flex, and Chevy Traverse that weren’t on the market in April 2008).
