Jeep gets biggest hit in Chrysler franchise drops

The most thorough summary of the Chrysler dealership closures so far is at the Washington Post (thanks, merl), which not only provided a summary of totals by brand, but also allows users to select their state and search by brand.

Jeep is getting the hardest hit, with 531 dealerships losing their franchise; these may include numerous former AMC dealers. Chrysler comes in at #2, with 471 franchises being revoked. Dodge and Dodge Truck came in at 430 and 432, respectively. (Some dealerships being closed sell more than one brand.)

In Michigan, Chrysler’s home, 40 dealers are losing their franchises; the totals reflect the national figures with 27 Jeep, 20 Chrysler, and 16 Dodge. In Ohio, where a greater Jeep presence and sales may be expected, Jeep remains the leader with 32 franchises being lost, compared with 31 Chrysler franchises and 25 Dodge franchises.

Users can easily find the franchises being lost, by make, for each state at the  Washington Post. So far, nobody has posted the listing that would be an obvious complement: franchises being moved to the new company.
