Jeep, Ram to stay with NewCo
Buried deep within Robert Manzo’s declaration – on page 100 of nearly 200 pages – is a liquidation analysis, describing what would happen if Chrysler were to wind down its businesses, presumably instead of attempting to split into the New and Old (Good and Bad) Chryslers.
Before beginning, we must note that under the “NewCo” assets list, one can easily find Warren Truck and the Toledo plants, including Toledo North, Toledo Supplier Park, and Toledo Machining.
However, Exhibit F, much later in the document, discusses how Jeep and the Dodge truck businesses could be sold and discusses the investments that would be needed for this.
Edmunds (consultant and writer Anita Lienert, to be specific) mixed together an interview with a Chrysler representative, describing the sale of Viper (which has been known for months), with Manzo’s declaration, which Edmunds claimed “raised red flags about the fate of the Jeep Wrangler.” Autoblog, in copying their article, added the Dodge Ram, insinuating that both would be dropped, presumably in favor of a line of Fiats.
The Manzo declaration in no way suggests that there are plans to sell Jeep or Dodge trucks to other buyers; Exhibit F is an alternative scenario which is essentially described as undesirable.
